The AECF (http://www.aecfafrica.org) is an Africa-based $250 million challenge fund that aims to reduce poverty by supporting private sector businesses that have a positive impact on rural communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. Specifically, the AECF supports businesses in agriculture, agribusiness, rural financial services and communications systems, renewable energy and adaptations to combat climate change. The AECF provides
catalytic funding in the form of grants and zero interest loans to businesses that would not otherwise have access to adequate financing.

The AECF is part of the Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) family and has been supported by governments (Australia, Canada, Denmark, The Netherlands, Sweden and United Kingdom), and international financial institutions (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor and IFAD).

The AECF has recently been spun out of AGRA, and is in the process of building itself to become independent development institution. The AECF is building a team of leaders to leverage its success to date, with a goal to doubling its impact over the next five years. To date the organization has supported more than 250 businesses
across 23 countries in Sub Saharan Africa. These companies in turn have impacted 10 million individuals by improving their incomes and access to clean sustainable energy.

Position Overview:

The Administration Assistant will be responsible for providing receptionist duties to the Nairobi office, disseminating information or materials to staff, as well as other office administrative duties. S/he represents the face of AECF as well as offer customer service to both internal and external parties.

Specific roles and responsibilities will include:

. Receive visitors and answer telephone calls, screens and/or directs visitors, callers, or messages to the appropriate staff members
. Respond to simple external queries related to AECF and maintain brochures and other information materials for handing out.
. Receive, signs for, sorts and organizes delivery of mail to the appropriate offices.
. Prepare, dispatch and maintain records for outgoing courier mail.
. Identifies news items that are of interest to staff and distribute as appropriate.
. Gathers, prepares and disseminates information from print and electronic media covering key areas of AECF programs and general information
. Responsible for organizing fire evacuation drills in liaison with the HR & Admin manager
. In charge of logistics of staff movement and timely information gathering and sharing on security matters
. Keep all staff locations and contacts and advise them in case of an emergency and/or evacuation

Required qualifications and experience:

. Post -secondary school qualifications
. Good command of the English language
. Computer proficiency and good typing skills.
. Excellent customer service skills.
. A minimum of two years of work experience in a similar role.
