|Position Title: Assistant Social Worker (1 Position)
Reporting to: SGBV Coordinator
Job Location Dadaab Refugee Operation
Reporting to the SGBV Coordinator, the Assistant Social Worker provides assistance in the designing and implementation of SGBV prevention activities. The Assistant Social Worker is responsible for organization and provision of structured SGBV psychosocial support activities in the community. Supervising SGBV Community Workers in the implementation of preventive SGBV activities. The social worker will be responsible of the work planning and implementation of the prevention activities at the assigned center, carrying out the planned activities, social and awareness activities to address the target population according to the overall project approach and strategy.
- Carry out field visits and conduct information sessions on available services for SGBV Survivors.
- Identification and referrals of GBV survivors for case management and other specialized services;
- Set up necessary measures and proper environment to ensure confidentiality during identification, intervention and referral of GBV cases;
- Assist in establishing community support committees for women and girls. Provide support to vulnerable individuals/children/families with protection concerns in the process of psychosocial support and case management.
- Act at all times according to guiding principles of SGBV case management including: Survivor centered approach, Ensuring confidentiality, Prioritization according to safety concerns, Anti-discriminatory practice, Ensuring accountability and Respecting professional boundaries and avoiding conflicts of interest
- Develop trust, tolerance and co-operation among community members through peer – led focus groups discussions and awareness sessions;
- Plan, design and monitor informal skills training, SGBV trainings and life skills training at the assigned center to facilitate the development of self-management, decision making and self-help processes among the target population.
- Facilitate the participation of all the segment of the target population to the planned activities held at the assigned center, (Youth, women, elderly, minority members, people with disabilities etc.).
- Prepare and submit activity progress reports including weekly, monthly SGBV & SITREPs
- Carry out any other additional duties as may be assigned by SGBV Coordinator.
- Minimum Diploma in Social Work, Counselling, Community Development or other related field.
- 2 years of experience in social work related to SGBV case management in humanitarian crisis.
- Good knowledge of the work of the Red Cross in Kenya
- Good Knowledge of programmes and Projects in the refugee operations with the ability to diagnose problems and identify and drive appropriate solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to Influence and interface with senior members of the business/Society
- Awareness of the IASC Guidelines for Gender-based Violence Interventions in Humanitarian Settings
