Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
Main purpose of job:
The Somalia Conflict, Security and Stability Fund (CSSF) is a £43.4 million cross-government programme designed to tackle the drivers of instability and deliver the UK Strategy in Somalia. This is an important and high-profile role supporting the entire Somalia programme. The projects are high-risk and complex and the delivery environment is challenging. However, the work is critical to sustaining improvements in Somalia for all Somalis and the UK.
The job holder will be responsible for delivering accurate forecasting, robust financial management at project level, and improving financial management processes across a large and complex conflict prevention programme. They should develop an excellent understanding of HMG financial processes and combine this with their own knowledge and experience to review and improve financial management systems in place across the programme. They will work very closely with programme managers to assess and maintain value for money and quality of financial reporting from implementing partners. They will report to a diverse range of stakeholders on all financial matters, making recommendations based on accurate forecasting of spend.
Essential qualifications and experience
Minimum 2 years experience of managing multiple and diverse budgets in a project context
Strong financial management skills
Formal qualifications in accountancy or financial management are preferred
Advanced skills in MS Excel and the ability to present complex financial data to a senior audience
Fluent in English
