Reporting to: Manager, Enterprise Application Services

Department: Information and Communication Technology Services

Type of Contract: Temporary Contract for six months

Basic job Summary:
Working together with the Enterprise Application Services (EAS) team the job holder will be responsible for development, administration and maintenance of the University’s Cafeteria Manufacturing and Inventory Control System to ensure smooth business operations at all times.

Duties & Responsibilities:

o Perform systems analysis and document all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for respective departments
o Gather and document requirements for new systems or new functionality from the relevant departments
o Develop and propose new and/or modify existing systems in order to meet the requirements of various University departments
o Provide technical and functional supervision during change and/or implementation of new/old systems
o Provide first level user support for respective systems.
o Develop interfaces between systems as the need arises
o Ensure that proper technical and user documentation is maintained for all systems
o Maintain the code repository for respective systems
o Ensure that regular backups and restoration tests are carried out as per laid down policy for all systems
o To conduct the role of application and systems administrator
o Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Minimum Academic Qualifications required:
o A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field from a recognized institution

Knowledge & Skills Required:
o Demonstrable proficiency in the PHP and Java Programming Languages. Knowledge of MVC tools/frameworks such as Spring or Laravel is a must.
o Able to demonstrable proficiency on relational databases.
o Basic Linux and Windows server administration.
o Must be Familiar with web applications development: HTML, JavaScript, CSS and JQuery.
o Desirable – Knowledge of: virtualization software (VMware, Citrix), version control (SVN, GIT).
o Relevant hands-on experience in systems development

o MUST be a good team player and MUST possess good interpersonal and communication skills. Other key attributes include: Quick learner, good project management skills, self-driven, innovative and ready to work for long hours to meet deadlines.
